I’m in the holiday spirit! Last weekend Oliver really wanted to put up the tree. So we did. I love our tree. I love the holidays for the togetherness of family and for the memories and my tree is just that. All the ornaments on the tree were from my tree when I was two years old and the couple that Oliver has made for me the last couple years. And I love that. And Sweet Peter loves that. And Oliver loves that. We’re all about the sickly little Charlie Brown tree and silly little ornaments. They make us laugh. So thought I’d share.
Today I need to finish putting everything else up. It’s been a crazy week. I know I say that all the time. I guess I do it to myself, but I do sort of make my life crazy ALL. THE. TIME.
Didn’t get the decorating done the other night because I finished up some photobooks for five different people for Christmas, and also finished up my novella of a Christmas letter. Took some time to print as I’m all into saving the environment and I finally have a printer that prints nicely on both sides of the paper, so I did a lot of print, flip, print flip. I was busy stuffing envelopes the other night when I heard some noises upstairs from the boy’s room. Went in to “Mumma, I’m not sleepy, so I’m just going to stay awake” in his perfectly happy perky little voice. Gave his head a kiss to find him BURNING up. My child, the master of the 105 fever and “feelin’ fine.” ack. Tried to stuff some medicine down his throat to squelch the fever and caused him to run to the bathroom, but not make it and hurl all over the carpet in his room. Poor pooks. He’s mighty distressed about that. Have cleaned it thoroughly, but assured him we’d rent a carpet cleaner this weekend to ease his little mind. Ever see that show Monk? That’s my kid. I think most mom’s would love this (I think my friend Wendy is still trying to find out what I put in his water so she can add it to her kids’ water). But, alas, I’m a “play in a mud puddle” kind of mom and just can’t deal with the constant “ACK! I’M DIIIIIIRRRRRTTTTTTYYYYYY”
We had a lovely day yesterday (after the sickness thing.) Oliver woke up in the morning all perky and singing “Happy Birthday to you!” I thank you all for the lovely birthday wishes. My friend Wendy, Chelsea, and Jackson (and of course the Oshman) took me to lunch at Pizza Hut to celebrate mine and Jackson’s birthdays. Was fabulous to see them. Oliver continued to be fine all day yesterday until the evening when he spiked a fever again. While Sweet Peter and I were out thoroughly enjoying my birthday dinner at Unwine’d. Really the best restaurant ever. Love it. Oliver was with Mimi, so the fever thing wasn’t so bad. When I got in he snuggled into me which was nice. He’s not a snuggler. That would require holding still for five seconds. WEnt to bed well, but turned into a rough-ish night and then sort of fine again this morning. It’s always hard to tell with him. He can have a fever of 103 (or higher) and be running around like nothing is wrong. I kept him home from school because of the fever and we did lots of artsy things to keep it low key. We played with sculpy. He had me make him a monkey, and then he made me a FABULOUS banana tree for my monkey. And my pride and joy of the sculpy day was the great penguin that I duplicated pretty well from Wallace and Gromit’s “The Wrong Trousers”. [Oooo, so excited. Just went to the website to add the link and THERE'S A NEW FILM COMING OUT!!! Whooo, my family is going to be war-whooping it up dancing around the living room. EXCITEMENT!]
Anyway, after my mum got home from her meeting Oliver was done with me because Mimi said she’d bake with him.

So he’s making me cookies. Fortunately he’s good about washing hands, not licking the bowl until all cookies are dropped on baking sheets, etc, or I’d have to worry about him blowing his little fever germs in my cookies.
Okay, it’s time to end this rambling post and put up my decorations, eat dinner, finish my class for December, and if I can get anything else done tonight that would be great. But maybe it’d just be nice to get some sleep for a change. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. NO! GET SOME GET UP AND GO!
