This afternoon has seemed to go downhill a bit. Today was lovely. Spent the morning working on Joy letters, both for the class at The Paper Treeand for the craft show going on for the Bedford, NH Craftworkers’ Guild later this month and all of next month. Next we went to the dump as a family (always good times that recycling! Nothing like a four year old sorting plastics, cans, and bottles to teach you fun can be had ANYWHERE!), on the way to pick up the plowtruck from inspection for our HUGELY L O N G drive (it’s getting to be that time of year…), on our way to The Paper Tree to drop off the freshly finished J O Y letters. Lovely lovely morning. So I arrive at the shop and things are still going well, but my first mishap occurred. Forgot to take pictures of the letters before bringing them. Okay, no biggie. Fabulous Michelle will take pics and send them to me and I can still do directions — and maybe even infringe on her copyrighted photos by posting them here. Not a biggie. Day is still lovely. Oliver is having a grand time playing in the shop. Doesn’t even want to go when I ask him. Later he takes a lap around the shop and picks out some basic grey letters and some bazzill paper to make flashcards out of (LOVE MY CHILD! Good taste, no?) Start making letters. Day’s still lovely. Oliver starts to get a little antsy and is ready to leave. Check out. Taking a little bit of time. Finish paying. Oliver decides he wants a green flower at the checkout. Uh, just finished paying. Michelle asks Oliver if he has a dime. Nope. So she trades him a hug for the flower. Pretty darn good day. I ask you, HOW CAN IT TURN BAD FROM THERE?!?!
So instead of leaving the shop at that point in time like I should have (I did say he was STARTING to get antsy) I’m chatting with all the fabulous ladies in there. Oliver starts running around (or they say he was just skipping) WHATEVER, he was doing something he shouldn’t have. Plowed into one of the stamp racks and broke a shelf. NOT HAPPY. Apologize to Michelle, pick up stamps, put rack back together, start home. Child needed more of a nap today than he had. Ride home was ENDLESS chatter. Sort of got a headache with the Oliver-induced-exploding-stamp-stand, so day is just starting to turn downhill. Get home, start to get a SORE throat. Between the headache and the sore throat I’m in no mood for anything out of the ordinary. Tell me a nice story durning dinner. Tell me about school on Friday. Tell me what you want to do tomorrow. Anything but what actually took place.
Eating dinner and they boy cannot sit in his seat. Kind of a frustration of mine anyway. Not out of his seat, but fidgety and not eating over his plate. Talking with big arm movements, etc. Tonight, this ends quite miserably when he LAUNCHES his dinner plate. Seriously, we were having breakfast for dinner tonight and you’ve never seen quite the spray of pancakes, fake sauges, fake bacon, clementines, and grapes than you saw all over our floor tonight. It wasn’t even a drop, it was a LAUNCH. He must have flipped the side of it over the side of the counter. And, of course, it was a full plate. Filled him back up, picked up the floor, hosed it down, sent him upstairs with daddy for a tubby and sat down to the computer to put together homework for the advent calendar class. This is where the day turns completely sour.
I HAVE MISPLACED THE BOOK WHERE I WROTE ALL MY NOTES ON HOW TO ACTUALLY CONSTRUCT THE CALENDAR!
Have you ever heard such a tragedy?!?!
Fortunately I have the sheet of paper for the homework, so that’s sent out. I’m putting the child to bed, and then going to tear my house apart to find the book. Hopefully it’s downstairs somewhere, hiding on me. Or if not, hopefully it got left at the shop today and she will let me know so I don’t have to lose any more years of my life. Then I’ll plan a massive break in tomorrow to steal the Hope Diamond Advent Calendar Directions Book. If you’ve seen it, let me know.
I have been so excited about this class. It’s like a baby to me. worked so hard on it. My mum is taking this class which is HUGE since she doesn’t scrapbook and has NEVER taken one of my classes. I’m psyched. Except that I’ve lost my directions, which, on this class, is going to be kind of hard to make it up as I go along since class is going to have to go at a pretty good clip. My book is probably worth a ransom. At this point, I’d probably even kick my mum out of class and let you have her spot. There’s only one left, so….
Alright, I’m done with my pity party of one, but if you’re also having an off day and need to vent, feel free. I’m here to listen. (Someone please write something to put my day into perspective.) At least Oliver doesn’t like syrup. Yeehaw for that! Alright, off to make up some directions. “Fold at 2.5″ 3″ 3.5″ whereever you want.”
HA! Feeling better already. Thanks for letting me vent. Goodnight to you all!
