Ho ho ho, my belly shakes like a bowl full of jelly

Wow, so much to catch up on.  Has been a totally nutty week.  Sweet Peter was batch-in’ it up this week as Oliver and I were crashing at my mum’s since Tuesday.  Between the million AWESOME birthday celebrations, only-sick-at-night child, work, classes, etc, I was sort of living out of my jeep and crashing on the couch.  For those of you who have asked about the boy, THANK YOU!  I’ve delivered all hugs and he’s FINE during the day and spikes a temp at night.  Not sure what’s going on in that little body of his, but hoping that his nights are as good as his days soon.  He’s developed a cough that sounds much like a harp seal, but, again, only at night.  Today he did sort of lose his voice, but it kind of made a comeback at dinner in order to sing “Happy Birthday” for the Mimi celebration.  HOORAY.  I was pleasantly surprised yesterday in my class when two students friends (who teach me TONS!) took me to Unwine’d for cheese fondue.  WOW!  Twice in one week.  Who’s the spoiled-est girl in the whole wide world?!  ME ME ME!!!  And then, we headed back across the street for class and Michelle surprised me with a cake.  YUM!  And the best tree photo thing ever.  And the best printer’s drawer (???) ever.  Uh, love that woman anyway, but my oh my, she can buy me gifts ANYTIME.  Woweee.

Thank you Marcia, Denise, and Michelle
for making last night a fantastic 2nd birthday night!  WHOO!  Seriously good stuff!  I am so fortunate in my life to have met such wonderful people!

Just as a side note — I’ve totally overdone it this week which tasted really good, but I do believe I’ve gained some mega-weight.  (but I’m not complaining because that cheese fondue is *SO* worth it!)  Anyone care to guilt me into exercising?!?!  PLEASE!!!!

Today, my mum (Mimi), the Oshman, and I headed to Yankee Candle in Deerfield, MA.  If you’ve not been there for Christmas, it’s mostly shopping as it’s a GIANT building divided up into a little shopping village, but Oliver seems to love running around in there and there are a couple activities.  He dipped ten thousand candles, played with the giant nutcracker, sat by the fountain, and checked out all that is Christmas in that place.  Actually they have this one room that blows out snow every once in awhile.  Kids thought that was the best.  Oliver really liked it too until a snowflake flew up his nose.  It was hard not to laugh when he looked so darn cute with all the frosty flakes in his hair (and his fingers up his nose.)

Oliver actually spoke to HOHO today (and did not run away scared!  WHOO!) — asked him about his reindeer, got the skinny on putting out glitter and oats so they can find the house, and learned that if he doesn’t put his legos away, the lego muncher will come eat them up.  I do believe Santa was alluding to my vacuum cleaner, but I don’t actually have to tell that to Oliver since his eyes were big as saucers and he PROMISED to put them all away every night.  Fabulous Santa.

The  funniest thing though was the rocking chair.  They had these rocking chairs outside the restaurant where we ate lunch.

I loved them and really wanted a nice picture of my mum and Oliver.  So told them to go sit in the chair.  Remember how I said he’s only waaaay sick at night and totally fine during the day?  These pictures will dispel any feelings you may have that I am a horrible mother and should keep him in bed because he really *IS* sick during the day and I’m just a dope.  Nope.  So funny — pictures are all blurry and out of whack because I literally fell over I was laughing so hard when I took them.  (It’s really hard to squat to take photos, start laughing, and stay upright.) Oliver decided that he wanted to rock so my mum’s holding him and he’s bucking around like a wild little bronco trying to get the chair to move (he was actually going much to fast to actually get it to rock properly.)  Fortunately Mimi does not have a broken nose, her glasses are still in one piece, and though I didn’t get the nice picture I was looking for, I got some entertainment for the day.

After our outing for the day, we headed back to Mimi’s for Chinese, cake, and presents for me.  Oliver stuck one of his dipped candles in the cake and I had to laugh because he cut the wicks right in half and when they lit the thing all I could think of was a stick of dynamite.  Check out that fuse!  I’m going to have to start calling him Wile E. Coyote.

So anyway, I’m back home for the first time in 4 nights?!?  I am looking forward to clothes out of a drawer tomorrow (instead of a shopping bag!), and sleeping in my own bed (which I’m about to take off to now.  early!)  I promise to start scrapping again soon and post some pictures.  JOY is happily hanging on my mum’s wall

and tomorrow  later this morning Oliver can start the advent calendar.  I’m looking forward to some creative inspiration from my fabulous drawer from Michelle and hopefully a good night scrapping tomorrow.  Oh, I forgot to tell you that my mum LAVISHED me in art supplies, so I really do have some serious inspiration floating around.  Hope I can grab on and go for a ride tomorrow night.  Think roller coaster ride.  GET THOSE ARMS UP AND SQUEAL!  YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
