We’d like to be the first to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. Even if you don’t celebrate, we figure Christmas is the perfect day. MOST people have it off and most places are closed which translates into ”time with family”. That’s what Christmas is to me. Family day. Love it. Today was really great (I’m talking about the “today” before it turned midnight though I have high hopes for THIS “today” as well.)
Seems lately I have some really bad karma floating around me. I believe in “what goes around, comes around.” I’m not sure what I did, but whoever I wronged…I am sorry. Truly, truly sorry. It rained poured in our living room last night. Stayed up all night moving all the furniture out/about and will get around to doing something about that later. But today, I tried to forget all about it and today was perfect. Spent time wrapping presents, eating pancakes and playing with my boys. We headed over to my mum’s this afternoon for Christmas dinner and presents at her house. She’s a nurse and ALWAYS works Christmas eve night and Christmas night. But she works from 11pm-7am (rather than her usual 7-7) Christmas eve night so we can celebrate with her before she heads out to work. So prior to heading over there we were sure to sprinkle magic reindeer dust/oats so that Santa’s Reindeer would be able to find our house. Oliver was totally into it. The oats were thrown everywhere. Then he takes out the little vial of glitter from the advent calendar. You should have seen him sprinkling a tiny little bit out of the tiny little vial into his hand, then throwing it in the yard. Then looking at his hand to see all the glitter still there, wiping it on his pants, and starting all over again. After, we made it across our ice rink of a drive, made it to Mimi’s and then had a great time visiting (mostly catching up with Andy – middle child - who’s so busy these days — we hardly see him.) Sadly, Jeremy – oldest child – did not make it, but we’ll see him tomorrow. Oliver made his older brother play all sorts of hideous games — Andy is such a good sport! Then Oliver could hardly wait to open gifts….

Note the timer in his hand. Those ten minutes took FOREVER I think. Oliver was overjoyed (and oddly enough, surprised!) with his gifts. He told Mimi in MAY what he wanted for Christmas and reminded her every month when the Lego catalog came to our house. It was so funny when he opened it and was not only overjoyed, but totally surprised he got it. Headed home (Oliver got a bloody nose on the way home but did not know it, so it got all over ALL FOUR lovies — there’s that karma again). Finally got him to sleep with a backup woobie and the promise that I’d stick the freshly laundered animals/blankets in bed with him when they were clean and got to work downstairs. Just spent the last couple hours moving the furniture around again so that I could find our Christmas tree.

“Santa’s” been here and I’m about to head off to bed. I hope it’s magical when he wakes up tomorrow — I remember it always being magical when I was a kid.
I hope you all have fabulous family days tomorrow and HoHo brings you all your hearts’ desires. Since my family is all safe and well I’m SURE HoHo’s already been to my house. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

What a lovely post!
