All is right with the universe…

Friends are just good for the soul. period.

Had some nice time with my friend Wendy this weekend.  Super-fantastic-amazing person that she is.  Was especially appreciated because the two of us are so busy, we hardly ever get time together anymore.  We were able to catch up on our lives, put tragedies into perspective, hoot, howl, plot, plan, and stir up trouble.  Always a good time.  And, good friend that she is, she saved some amazing “junk” for me, and I created a little piece of junk that I love.  Oliver was mighty fond of it too.  The jury is still out on Peter’s feelings….  There have been some nice art vibes running around my house these past couple days.  I FINALLY hung the picture Oliver painted for Peter’s birthday in October, and set up a “junk” shelf for the lovely little thing I did last night, and the cardboard I drew on for Valentine’s day for Peter.  Have decided that the shelf will be dedicated to paintings/drawings/artwork done on “garbage”.  Uh, the mere thought!  Most garbage just is NOT.  Sadly, Oliver has inherited my Pack-rat-ed-ness so we’ll be needing to move ourselves into a storage facility soon.    Anyway, I was talking about the good art vibes going around….Oliver drew this picture for me on Thursday night while attending our town meeting.  Probably not what strangers would consider the best artwork they’ve ever seen by a 5 year old, HOWEVER, if you know me AT ALL, it’s the best you’ve ever seen.  My husband and I nearly bust a gut laughing when we saw the picture.  Fortunately Oliver knew we were not laughing at him and KNEW how much I loved the picture.  His little chest was all puffed out and he was so proud.  I will be framing it to hang on the wall.  For those of you who do not know me, I’m sorry, you won’t get this.  And also, please do not think I am at all into myself.  I am not.

Andrew came over for dinner tonight, the boy was OVERJOYED to have his big brother to abuse, we had a fatty dinner now that wrestling season is over, some strawberries dipped in chocolate fondue, and my head filled with happy thoughts from the weekend.  So on that note, I’m off to finish up the lunchbox notes for the week, do some directions for class Tuesday, maybe (SHOCKER!) read a little bit, and (MAJOR SHOCKER!) get to bed before midnight!  Sweet dreams kids!
