Lots of pics, little text

I have a gazillion things to do tonight.  Got 10 whole hours of sleep on Friday due to some freak accident where I fell asleep watching a movie with Oliver, so gave up *6* whole hours of work time.  Ugh, so far behind!  So this post will be mostly pics and little writing…  Gotta get a move on my day (night?)!

Must let you all in on the “One Day” project. Just gotta get my page together for April then will post the details.  Anyway, this picture cracks me up.  Last year my morning awakening was Oliver jumping on me and squealing “COCKADOODLEDOO!”  I was just wishing that wake up away.  Lately, his little sleeping pals have been right in my face.  “MOMMA!” In their squeaky little voices.  Much preferred!  Picture taken with cruddy camera — oooo, how I hate that camera!

Again, picture for the “One Day” project.  Oliver has been taking some GREAT pictures lately!  I was so impressed with this one (again with cruddy camera.)  Shows our day last Tuesday — all errands run in the POURING rain.  Fun, fun!

Friday rocked.  Spent the morning with my mum at Oliver’s school to do little flower projects with the kids.  Will have to post pictures of the projects after mother’s day.  Stay Tuned.  Then we headed to Concord to meet up with our friends the Cameron’s at Beech Hill Farm.  I love that place.  The boys had a good time digging in the sand, and LOOK!  Oliver even got dirty!!!  (I still can’t believe he’s my kid?!?)  Took him a bit to warm up to it, but then all was well.  And the little pink shovel…reminds me of when he was a baby.  It was his favorite color — tackled his “girlfriend” to get her little pink shoes off so he could wear them.  I think it was even before he could walk…..  Guess he’s still somewhat partial to it.

And the animals.  baby cow — this animal licked Peter from fingertip all the way up his arm to his chin.  Peter was doing a mighty good job giving him a back scratch.  His mum wants a dog…I think Peter might want this cow.

Give me a break on the peacock pictures — had to take the pictures through a chain link fence and into a DARK area where the bird was.  The head pic is really weird.  I know it’s a little out of focus, but something else is a little off.  Maybe it’s just my bird phobia, but it looks a little freaky to me.  The neck looks broken, and nothing natural should be that color.  gorgeous…but….

Good news on the plant front.  First off, we got our new planters for the porch in the mail and got what we had (cukes, tomatoes, squash, a variety of strawberries, red leaf lettuce) planted.  I was going to wait until next year to order two more, but Oliver has taken over my pots from last year for flowers (and done a FANTASTIC job with it too!)  Will take pictures if it ever stops raining.  Yes, planted in the rain.  Oliver got cold, went inside and made me lunch.  Yes!  He’s FIVE!!!  Crazy.  Goldfish, Honey Bunnies, a fruit leather, and an almond granola bar!  Fantastic.  When I came in I was so surprised.  He was just disappointed he couldn’t get my tea because he was afraid he’d burn himself.  GOOD CALL!  Anyway, thought that was awesome.  Also, other thing he did this weekend that made me think he was really old was this conversation we had last night while coloring.

K:  If you were a color crayon, what color would you be?
O:  Green.  It’s my favorite color.
K:  Okay, what color do you think I’d be?  Maybe some kind of red?  Oooo, maybe this SPARKLY red?!?!
O:  No, I think you’d be yellow.  Nice and bright!
K:  [Searching through the crayon tower]  Ooo, I like the sound of this.  How about “Metallic Sunburst!”
O:  Metallic SunBURN maybe….

Hey Buddy, you have the same burn ‘em up skin, so don’t point fingers!  …  SHEESH.  Isn’t five a little young for sarcasm?  Much to Sweet Peter’s chagrin, he is MY child.

I got off on a tangent.  Plant front.  Okay, back on track.  So my cactus (one of about a million MANY), that I’ve had for about three years has never flowered.  It started growing this freaky arm last week.  Thought it might be a flower because it’s not the way it reproduces.  I think it’s been waaaaaayyy too busy making babies to bloom because I have given bits and pieces of this particular cactus to at least 10 people and I have seven pots of it in my house right now.  This is the original big mama cactus though.  Anyway, the arm shows up and then this weekend, this BEAUTIFUL flower.  Picture of arm in inset.  The flower is totally cool — it’s like a trumpet — you can see down the arm.  If anyone knows what this cactus is called, please feel free to educate me.  I have a million plants and I know NOTHING about any of them.  Water them if they droop.  If they droop more, don’t water them.  That works for me.

And if any of you care, my Lemon Tree, which I got for Mother’s Day two years ago has FINALLY recovered after I had to kill it nurse it back to health.  Long story.  Anyway, I’m SOOOOO happy that I will have home grown lemons for my water/tea/cooking again this year.  I would highly recommend having a lemon tree in your house if you can swing it.  When the flowers come….uh, you have NEVER smelled anything so wonderful in your life!

Okay, too much writing even though I said I wouldn’t.  Last pic….I’m off to do more art, finish up some surprise gifties, start some more, pack some boxes, do the lunch box notes for the week (or maybe just tomorrow at this point) finish up my friend’s wedding donation cards for her to approve so I can actually finish all 460 (?!?! are you serious?!?!  I don’t even know that many people if I include everyone I know from work!  That’s like twice as many as was at Inspired!) of them before her wedding .

This is some fun stuff I’ve been working on.  YET ANOTHER thing I found to do to/with Gaffer tape.  Did you know you could paint the darn stuff?  Of course you did.  Oh well, I just tried it out.  GORGEOUS!  Matches the icky yucky books I love.  Now I’m feeling the need to order MORE gaffer tape lest I ever run out (I think I have 65 packages in stock. mmmmm, gaffer tape and jump rings.  The two most perfect scrapbooking supplies!)

Toodles Pork Chops.
