Before I start this post, I updated the Christmas post with proper pictures and added a few more — I know I received well more than my fair share of emails expressing concern over the crappiness of my photos. Nope, it was not your computers…just my lack of access while on vacation. Hopefully all is well now.
On to today’s installment of the family Christmas/New Year’s Vacation. Our family Christmas shot by the tree. (Cameron, please note the delicious red cowboy hat in the background….uh! makes your heart pitter patter, doesn’t it?!?!)

Our last day in California, we badgered Great Aunt Florence to join us at Legoland until she gave in (which was basically Oliver saying “Please!”) — we all had a wonderful time together there. When Oliver and Peter ran off to get a table in the Bionicle’s clubhouse, Aunt Florence and I staged a picture of her with the big guy for Oliver. It came out pretty great and we only had to shove three kids out of the way to do it. Check her out in her winter coat and scarf…it was like 60 degrees!!! Those Californians have thin blood! That weather was soooooo nice!

On New Year’s Day Oliver, Peter, and I headed to the Cabrillo Tide Pools…only there were no tide pools to be viewed because low tide was at 6pm. I’m glad we went anyway because it was beautiful there and we had a great day. Perhaps next year low tide will be when it’s not dark out and we can poke around in those pools. These are all pictures from the Park and I am thrilled with all of them (though maybe that’s because we had such a great day!)
This little guy came right up to Oliver. I was waiting for a rabid squirrel attack like the raccoon in Harold and Kumar. FORTUNATELY there was no attack.

This post is heavy on Katie photos — sorry about that. Oliver took the below picture of Peter and I and I was so impressed. And so thankful to have a picture of the two of us! The building in front is actually a barn — the lighthouse (with an actual house attached) is behind this building.
Quite possibly my favorite photo from vacation (and high on the list of “all times”) — my boys in the lighthouse. Should spend some time to clean this up a bit and then blow it up big on my wall.
ANOTHER pic of me — so sorry. I am so thankful to have a picture with Oliver where we are both happy (and snuggly.) He’s getting big so quickly.
We were getting in the car to move further down the road when I saw a bunch of Pelicans flying overhead. I’ve never seen them before (to my knowledge) so was really excited, except I missed them because I was getting in the car. They fly pretty fast — totally missed them. But Oliver and Peter were expert spotters and more and more kept coming by at random intervals. Finally caught one. Wish I’d seen one with his beak full of food. They remind me of pteradactyls.

Another of my favorite photos below. I wanted Oliver and Peter to go out on the rocks so I could take some pictures with the water in the background. Oliver said “NO! Daddy, you stay here. I’ll be brave and go out on the rock for Momma’s photo.” I love the photo especially because he really was being brave. Even being this far out was making him a little nervous — notice his hands clutched and his nervous little grin.

Highly recommend this place if you’re in the San Diego area. Well, it’s 4:30am my time — best be getting my bum to bed! Sweet Dreams!
