The rain stopped for TWO weekends in a row. Or at least for PART of two weekends in a row. I was not aware that NH had a monsoon season, but I have been thoroughly educated. Anyway, we managed to make it to the ocean two weekends in a row and it’s been wonderful. If you’ve ever read my beach posts before, you know we take pride in the MAMMOTH sand castle that we build every time we got to the beach. Peter and Oliver had an entire winter to plan out their sand castle this year and decided that they were going to build an aircraft carrier. So they worked all winter/spring on model planes to put on their carrier.

We also brought a kite with us this time. The IDEA of flying a kite at the beach always sounds good to me, but then when we actually try it I get all nervous. You really need to let the kite get quite high to fly well. That means a lot of string is out. Which means there are a lot of people to hit when the wind dies and it comes crashing to the ground. We had little luck flying the kite except in shorts bursts close to the ground. This suited Oliver just fine who was happy to dance around directly below it.

This week’s sandcastle was a little on the boring side because Oliver didn’t want towers, but roads and runways for his planes. We did do one cool thing which was to tunnel all the way through the bottom of the castle. I almost couldn’t reach through!

We’re so happy you can climb on the rocks again. Though they have removed A LOT of them. Anyone in the NH area know the deal with the rocks at Wallis Sands?

Oliver LOVED boogie boarding this weekend.

I painted my stairway this weekend. I have had visions of the stairway being a backdrop for my favorite photos. I finally found some new carpeting for it that I like and decided to paint the walls to match. A very deep brownish purple. The color chip said “Mussel shell.” All I can think after 6 hours of painting today is that the California Raisins puked all over my walls. Hopefully once I get the masking tape down, a second coat, and some pictures up it will look better. I’m trying to be on a new home improvement kick. If anyone has quick, cheap, change it up ideas, please weigh in here! Sweet dreams!
