How boring is it to read in EVERY blog post that “it’s been awhile”. Apologies. Hopefully my motivation will kick in quickly.
Our vacation to Michigan was certainly wonderful, jam packed and much fun. In the three days we spent with my Great Aunt and my mum’s sister from Virginia, we hit up the zoo, the beach, the botanical gardens, had a birthday party, I learned how to weave on the big loom (I’ve ALWAYS wanted to learn!), Oliver learned how to weave on a children’s loom, we had a birthday party for my mum and my Aunt, and had more fun than I’ve had in a dog’s age.
Our first day at the zoo. Oliver, Aunt Betty, and Aunt Carol watching to tortoise.

The aquarium at the zoo was small, but the main tank was amazing. I could have cared less about the fish. The coral was absolutely amazing!

There was a new little baby mandrill at the zoo. No pictures of it. This is one of the older mandrill’s. I’m just in awe of the colors on their faces. It does not seem like something you would find in nature, but rather the monkey’s got into their mother’s makeup kit.

I was so hoping to have a great family photo at the beach. I totally dropped the ball on this one! But I did get one of my favorite pictures of Oliver from the vacation. This is lake Michigan. How I miss spending part of my summer with my grandparents on THEIR shore of Lake Michigan. It was nice to make a memory with my Aunt Betty on HER shore.

The botanical gardens were so beautiful. I do so much better with my plants in the house than I do with the ones outdoors. No weeding required. hmmmmmm

We’ve had very little summer in NH. It’s rained so very much. Oliver was melting on this “hot” day. I think it was 85 degrees. He was so happy to play in the fountain.

By far the best part of our vacation was spending time with my Great Aunt Betty. She is such an amazing person and I hope I can live my life half as full as she’s lived hers! In her mid 90’s she is a reminder that there really is so much life to live!

What beautiful pictures, Katie! Tell your mom I got the lovely quilted house hanging–a work of art. XXOO to OLiver. Much love.
