I think the best day we had in California on our previous visit was to Cabrillo National Monument. Last visit we completely missed low tide. This visit, we planned around the nicest day and to hit it up at low tide. We were not disappointed. Heavy on the pictures in this post because this was my favorite day and some of my favorite pictures ever.
I am happy to post two pictures taken by other members of the family.
Oliver has become very very good with the camera. I really want to get him his own SLR.

Oliver told Peter to take a picture of he and I — WAHOOO! I don’t even have to be the one to order other people around with the camera.

I don’t know what this is, but it’s one of my favorite pictures of the day.

There was so much to see in the tidepools. I’m going to limit myself to these couple (plus that odd thing above!) Sadly, we did not find any seastars, but I lost Oliver to the pull of sand art. He couldn’t be bothered to look in the tidepools too long when there was a long flat perfect beach to do some drawings on.

The rock and sand formations there were really amazing. This was Oliver’s favorite spot. He liked how the rock formed a little bowl.

We watched the surfers on and off during the day. They were pretty far away. Sadly, this surfer guy about to bite it is my favorite picture of them…

The sunset was amazing, and the moon was even more beautiful. I love how you can see the texture at the bottom of the moon.

WOW, super awesome photos!! What’s the info for the moon photo? It’s awesome!
Hi Cameron, I’m assuming you mean camera settings? I’m not really sure, but for a night shot I would have put the aperature all the way open and I’m sure I was probably zoomed in all the way since the moon is pretty far away. I didn’t tripod it or anything for this picture. It was still *a little* bit light out (taken at the same time as the sunset picture!) Sky looks dark in the moon photo because the exposure was set for the moon.
Awesome! I can see why yall love it there. Thanks for sharing.
OK…these are INSANE! I mean completely, over the top, phenomenal!!!!! Love the beach, love the tide pools, love the moon, love you guys. All pictures spectacular.
Very nice moon. It’s really amazing what you can do with a digital camera these days. That little notch on the terminator at about the 7 o’clock is the Grimaldi basin. Your snap shows a nice Bunny in the moon (never did see the Man in the Moon, personally).
Steve, I had to comment on your “man in the moon” because I’ve always thought there must have been some pretty serious drugs involved for MOST of the constellations. Maybe you’re not on the right stuff for “the man”. Still fun to look at though!
